In order to ensure the promising environment for the progress of the country’s trade with the international market, the government of Pakistan has decided to reanalyze it’s current and proposed trade agreements with different nations.
According to the Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce Textile, industries and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood, Pakistan has to revisit the free trade agreement with a number of countries including those being negotiated with Thailand and Turkey.
Dawood believed that the government is committed to strengthening regional trade and export-led growth of the economy. He emphasized that the government would give priority to the promotion of export-led growth by enhancing shipments and reducing dependence on imports, adding it had identified many sectors that would give a boost to exports from the country.
Dawood, while answering a question, added that the agricultural goods export alone would not enhance the country’s overall shipments, highlighting the importance of switching to value addition.
